The six major metal materials are making concerted efforts, opening a new chapter in the industry's development

Aluminized zinc steel sheet and aluminized zinc steel:The Carbon Steel Thin Plate Plant of Hongxing Co., Ltd. of Jiuquan Iron and Steel Group has made a major breakthrough in the production of high-end aluminized zinc plates, successfully achieving batch production on the galvanizing Line 1. Aluminized zinc sheet has excellent wear resistance, corrosion resistance, solvent resistance, and good reflectivity to light and heat. Its unique alloy coating is formed by curing 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc and 1.6% silicon at high temperatures. This achievement is of great significance. Currently, only a very small number of domestic manufacturers have the production capacity for such high-end products. Previously, Jiuquan Iron and Steel Group successfully developed this product on the Galvanizing Line 2 in 2022 and has been continuously optimizing the surface quality. Since November 2023, technicians have been conducting experiments on the galvanizing Line 1. They have meticulously planned each link from smelting, hot rolling to coating and galvanizing, determining the optimal equipment precision and production conditions. The line officially started trial production and achieved batch production at the beginning of this year. This product is mainly used in the manufacturing of high-end electronic products. With its mass production, it is expected to change the domestic high-end aluminized zinc sheet market pattern, reduce the production cost of related products, and promote the further improvement of product quality in the electronic industry. ​

Galvanized Steel SheetWith the increasingly strict requirements for material performance in the construction industry, new processes for galvanized steel plates are constantly emerging. In terms of surface treatment technology, some enterprises apply nano-scale self-cleaning coatings on the surface of galvanized layers, such as titanium dioxide-based materials. They utilize photocatalytic reactions to decompose organic pollutants and achieve self-cleaning by rainwater through the superhydrophobic effect. A certain coastal chemical plant has adopted galvanized steel plates treated by this technology as roofing materials. After three years of use, there is no obvious dust or rust on the surface, significantly improving the plate's stain resistance and weather resistance. It is especially suitable for high-pollution or high-humidity environments. Some enterprises have adopted fluorocarbon spraying technology, with high-temperature cured fluorocarbon coatings (PVDF). The coating thickness can reach 80-120 μm, and the weather resistance can last for more than 50 years. It is rich in color and has strong UV resistance. In a certain resort hotel project in Hainan, the roof system still maintained bright colors under strong ultraviolet radiation. In addition, a breakthrough has been made in the technology of adding graphene nanosheets to form composite coatings during the galvanizing process. The high electrical conductivity and high wear resistance of graphene significantly enhance the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of the galvanized layer, with the theoretical service life extended to over 40 years. Salt spray tests show that its annual corrosion rate is only one-third of that of traditional galvanized layers. It has obvious advantages in Marine environments or areas with severe industrial waste gas. ​

Aluminum coil/tube/plate:The aluminium market remains active. In the aerospace field, to meet the demands of lightweight and high-strength aircraft, progress has been made in the research and development of new aluminium alloy materials. A well-known aluminum material enterprise has launched a new type of aluminum alloy sheet. By optimizing the alloy composition and adding trace amounts of rare metal elements, its strength has increased by 20% compared with traditional aluminum alloys, while its density has decreased by 8%. In the automotive manufacturing industry, to achieve energy conservation and emission reduction, the application of aluminium components is becoming increasingly widespread. The production process of aluminum tubes for automotive radiators has been continuously improved. Through the microstructure treatment of the inner surface, the heat transfer efficiency of the coolant has been enhanced and the energy consumption of the automotive engine has been reduced. In the field of architectural decoration, high-performance fluorocarbon-coated aluminum coils are highly favored. Their rich colors and excellent weather resistance make the appearance of buildings more beautiful and durable. For instance, the exterior decoration of some large commercial complexes extensively uses fluorocarbon-coated aluminum coils, enhancing the overall image of the buildings. ​

Stainless steel:In the food processing and medical equipment industries, extremely high requirements are placed on the hygiene performance and corrosion resistance of stainless steel materials. Recently, a new type of antibacterial stainless steel has been developed in the industry. By adding a specific proportion of silver ion and copper ion antibacterial agents during the smelting process, it can inhibit the growth of bacteria and mold. Experimental data show that this antibacterial stainless steel has an inhibition rate of up to 99.9% against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, and reduces the mold growth rate by 85%. It is highly suitable for scenarios such as hospital operating room equipment and food processing equipment. In the field of architecture, to meet the demands of personalized design, the surface treatment processes of stainless steel are constantly being innovated. For instance, through laser etching technology, various exquisite patterns and textures can be formed on the surface of stainless steel plates, adding unique charm to architectural decoration. Some high-end office buildings' curtain wall decorations adopt laser-etched stainless steel plates, presenting a distinctive artistic effect. ​

Color-coated sheet:The application of color-coated steel sheets in the home appliance and construction industries is constantly expanding. In the field of home appliances, to meet consumers' diverse demands for the appearance of home appliances, the color design and surface texture of color-coated steel sheets are constantly being innovated. A certain home appliance manufacturer has adopted a new type of pearlescent color-coated steel plate, which gives the home appliance shells a unique pearlescent luster, enhancing the aesthetic appeal and grade of the products. In the construction industry, in addition to its decorative function, the functionality of color-coated steel sheets has also been further enhanced. Some enterprises have launched color-coated steel sheets with thermal insulation and heat preservation functions. On the inner side of the color-coated steel sheet, a layer of expanded perlite or polyurethane foam is compounded to form an thermal insulation and heat preservation structure, significantly reducing building energy consumption. An application case in a certain cold chain logistics center in the north shows that after adopting this composite heat-insulating color-coated steel plate, the roof temperature in winter increases by 15% to 20%, the cooling effect in summer can reach 5℃ to 8℃, and the annual energy-saving rate increases by 35%. ​
